Our Story

Founded by a mom, dad, and daughter, The Shell Cartel™ was born from a lifelong love for North Carolina’s Crystal Coast and the memories made along its shoreline. What began as simple family moments by the water grew into a bigger purpose — protecting the coast that shaped us.

After seeing trash left on beaches, sea turtle nests disturbed, and living shells taken from the ecosystems that depend on them, we knew our love for the coast needed to become action. Today, every design we create is inspired by the beaches, wildlife, coastal towns, and experiences that continue to leave their mark on our family.

As a small family-run coastal brand, our mission is simple: create apparel that connects people to the coastal lifestyle they love while helping protect sea turtle hatchlings and the coast they call home.

Our mission is rooted in education, awareness, and giving back. We strive to inspire people to care for the coast by supporting organizations and initiatives that work tirelessly to protect vulnerable sea turtles during nesting season, preserve and restore beaches for future generations, and promote respect for marine wildlife and their natural habitats, including ensuring living shells remain where they belong.

Through purpose-driven apparel, we hope to build a community that doesn’t just love the coastal lifestyle, but actively works to protect it. Every design carries a deeper meaning: to spark conversations, encourage action, and remind others that even small efforts can create lasting impact.
